Since the age of 14, Diane Linston has been sketching and designing women’s clothing.
Fueling her passion for fashion into a career, she attended and graduated from the Virginia Marti College of Art & Design in Lakewood, Ohio, and subsequently launched Styles of Imagination in 1999, a storefront boutique located in Maple Heights, Ohio; soon after opened a second store in downtown Cleveland, Ohio- II Styles of Fashions. Diane closed both stores in 2005 to launch her on clothing line, The N.G.U. Designs.
Styles of Imagination have participated in numerous fashion shows including;
the Black Family Expo, Smooth Cool & Jazzy- celebrity hair and fashion show, The Cleveland Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club, Segami International, and a fashion show for Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor, the Queen of Lofa County, Liberia, The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Alpha IX Chapter, Canton Pro-Football Hall of Fame Fashion show (more than 4000 attendees), Fashion week in Detroit Michigan, and the list goes on and on.
In March of 2009, The N.G.U. Collection was showcased in Atlanta, Georgia in a show which was organized by Dwight Eubanks, also known as “the 5th Housewife” on the reality show Housewives of Atlanta. Diane recently designed two ensembles for actress Jazsmin Lewis, whom has appeared in Barber Shop 1 and 2 with co-star Ice Cube and in Three Can Play That Game with actress Vivica Fox.
Diane Linston has been recognized and honored by the Phenomenal Foundation for positive contributions within her community. Diane also received recognition from Proyecto Luz, for volunteering time and fashions during a benefit for Aids in the Hispanic community, The National Association of Negro business & professional Women’s Club, Inc showcased Diane’s designs in a Per Ebony Fashion show for upcoming designers from the Cleveland, OH area. 2001 Diane Linston was inducted into the Virginia Marti College of Fashion & Art Wall of Fame due to her positive spirit and inspiration to others, and many college and high-school level students have interviewed Diane for class projects.
Styles of Imagination is the umbrella name for all of Diane’s collections, the N.G.U. Design label is Diane’s signature line. N.G.U., stands for Never Give Up, and has been Diane’s rallying cry throughout her pursuit of becoming a high-fashion designer. “My dreams are more than just being a fashion designer,” states Diane, “It’s a dream come true for me. My career has not been easy; I have learned everything about fashion the hard way and I never gave up on my dreams, hence N.G.U. was born!”
Diane was a fashion coordinator on a local TV show “Help, I Need a Makeover,”
Diane volunteers her time at various schools for Career Days & Dress for Success in Cleveland Ohio, where she speaks to women in transition about how to dress in the workplace. Diane has also mentored with organizations like Junior Achievement and the NAACP mentoring program.
Diane resides in Maple Heights, Ohio with her husband of 19 years, their two teenager children and a dog named Bozo.
